Eligibility

This meet is open to all swimmers who are members of a team in the Germantown-Gaithersburg Swim League and who have participated in at least three dual meets during the current season. If challenged, it is your responsibility to confirm the eligibility of swimmers. Please bring a roster of your team and score sheets from earlier meets.

Order of Events

The meet will follow the standard order of events for GGSL dual meets, except that there will be no 6 & U events.

Scoring

The first ten (10) places will earn points on a 11-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis in individual events. Relay events will be scored on a 22-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2 basis, but no team can earn points from more than one relay squad in an event. Only two swimmers may score points in each individual event.

Awards

Place awards will be given to the top ten swimmers in each event. All other swimmers will receive participation ribbons. Heat winners will also receive special ribbons. Teams will be asked to share in the cost of these awards.

Number of Entries

Each team may enter a maximum of two (2) swimmers per event, except for the freestyle events for the 8 & Under and 9-10 age groups, where four (4) swimmers will be permitted. Teams may enter two relay squads in each relay event.

Timers

Each team will be asked to provide at minimum three timers. Each team will be contacted regarding stroke and turn judges or scorers or starting. You will be contacted regarding specific requirements. Each team is required to bring watches for their timers.

Parking

Parking is limited at the pool facility and on the street. Car-pooling is encouraged. Please advise your parents that additional parking is available at Lake Seneca Elementary School, immediately across the street from the pool.

Warm-ups

Warm-ups will be divided into two 15-minute periods. Teams will be assigned to a period and lane(s) based on the number of entries. Lane assignments will be posted at the pool the morning of the meet.

Heat & Lane Assignments 

All events will be swum as Timed Finals. Heat and lane assignments will be available at the pool.Each team will also be given three (3) meet sheets upon their arrival. In general, you should expect to swim three heats of each event.

Special Note

It is essential that the meet end no later than 1:00 pm. Swimmers will be responsible for being ready in their lanes when their event and heat are called. Swimmers should report to their lanes at least one event in advance. Under no circumstance will the meet be delayed because a swimmer is not ready for a race.

Ribbon Writing

Ribbons will NOT be written at the meet. At the end of the meet, you will receive a print-out of the results and an appropriate number of blank ribbons for your team. Please provide an appropriate box for ribbons before the meet starts.

Team Entry Fee

Each year, there is a $35 entry fee for each team for Invitationals.  Please have cash or a check made payable to "CVS HOA Swim Team" with you when you check in.

Entry Procedures

All entries will be seeded on the basis of fastest time during the current season. Entries are due no later than 12:00 noon on the Thursday before the meet. The meet will be seeded that afternoon. Teams may make substitutions in their line-ups until the start of the first event, but substitutes will swim in the heat and lane determined by the original entrant's seed. Please bring a list of your substitutions to the meet, if possible. We will attempt to change the database so that ribbon labels are printed properly.

Teams must provide electronic entries from Team Manager. You can use last year's Invitationals meet in your Team Manager to make a meet for this year and send entries. You should already have set your AGE UP DATE to June 1 of this year. In addition, please provide a printed report of your entries as a separate electronic file via email (.doc or .pdf), and also a team roster file from TM.
